Fraser Coast towns beyond the bay

The Fraser Coast’s famous face is salt. Its second face is verandahs, river port, and volunteer keys. If you only walk the Hervey Bay esplanade you will have had a good holiday. If you have another day, the towns make the region feel finished.

Maryborough first

Maryborough is the half-day that behaves like a city: Portside, Queens Park, murals, Brennan & Geraghty’s Store. It is about thirty minutes from the bay. It is the correct first hinterland answer.

Then a quieter mouth or a hinterland museum

Burrum Heads is the same sheltered water with fewer menus. Bauple is museum-and-mountain hinterland. Brooweena is timber country on a confirmed Sunday. Howard is a pause. Tuan is forest.

The towns hub is the map. The all-regions page is the old mental model (bay, hinterland, west). Heritage slugs still resolve so Wayback tourists do not 404.

Do not collect towns the way people collect lookouts. Open doors beat a complete spreadsheet.
