Wongi Waterhole is 25 kilometres north-west of Maryborough. Head 12.5 kilometres towards Childers on the Bruce Highway then turn left at the signpost (the last reliable mobile phone reception is at this turnoff). Drive 10 kilometres into the picnic and camping areas along a gravel road.
Camping is only available to those who have a camping permit and display a camping tag.
Experiences at Wongi are camping, waterholes and state forest. Take in the magnificent hoop pine rainforest, open eucalypt forest, open woodland with a heath understorey and exotic pine plantations. The National Bicentennial Trail passes through the forest.
Picnic tables, toilets, cold showers and tank water are provided. Take a fuel stove as no fires are allowed.
