How to get to the Fraser Coast

The Fraser Coast is within driving distance from Queensland’s Capital, Brisbane, with Maryborough being just three hours drive (255 kilometres) north of Brisbane along the Bruce Highway. Hervey Bay is a further 34 kilometres north-east of Maryborough, Childers is 60 kilometres north of Maryborough on the Bruce Highway and Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach can also be accessed via Gympie or Maryborough.
If you do travel by road, you can explore the diversity of the beautiful Fraser Coast coastline, as well as the diversity of the Fraser Coast Hinterland. From the calm waters of Hervey Bay to the surf in Rainbow Beach, there is no better way to see all the Fraser Coast has to offer than from the comfort of your own vehicle!
By Train
Queensland Rail operates regular services from Brisbane, Rockhampton and Cairns to Maryborough West. Coach transfers to Hervey Bay connect with the Bundaberg and Rockhampton Tilt Trains. The Bundaberg and Rockhampton Tilt Trains will also stop at Howard for pre-booked passengers.
By Bus
Greyhound and Premier operate several northbound (from Brisbane) and southbound (from Cairns) services each day through Maryborough, Hervey Bay and Childers. Greyhound also operates daily services from the Sunshine Coast to the Fraser Coast via Rainbow Beach. Tory’s Tours operates between the Fraser Coast, Brisbane Airport and the Brisbane CBD.
