Maryborough Military & Colonial Museum is regarded as one of the best community museums in Australia, with
thousands of items of military and colonial memorabilia.
It is located in a beautifully restored heritage-listed building in the heart of Portside, Maryborough’s original port district. The museum covers three levels, with only the ground floor being wheelchair accessible.
The unusual, the quirky and eclectic are amongst 7,000 items of military and colonial memorabilia, which form displays of exceptional quality at the Maryborough Military & Colonial Museum.
There is an extensive Navy, Army and Air Force display, including a Victoria Cross, a Cross of Valour, and many other significant medals. There are also uniforms, historic vehicles, scale models, murals, wood sculptures and a 2,000 book research library.

style building, built in 1900, was Maryborough’s second Customs House. It remained a Customs House until 1988 and opened as an interpretive centre in 2001.
